password protection of block diagram works only for 1st time

Solved!
Go to solution

Hi All

I have set of VIs which I ahve password protected(using the same password), through VI properties --> protection-->Password Protected. I closed the LabVIEW and tried to reopen any of the VI.

The VI asked for the password(say a.vi) . I provided password and then just closed the VI. Again I tried opening a.vi's block diagram , it did not ask me for password . 😮

Also , after providing password for a.vi , if I am closing it and trying to open BD of b.vi , its not asking me for passowrd.

Is this how the password functionality works? It should ask me password for each VI when everytime I am trying to access it BD.

Hi LV_user,

LabVIEW stores the password in an (internal) cache once you have input the password. It keeps the password in memory for this LabVIEW instance. When you restart LabVIEW you have to input the password again…

This behaviour is explained in the LabVIEW help, please read it

Best regards,
GerdW

Hi Hatef,

did you read the help as linked above?

You only need to "clear [the] password cache"…

Best regards,
GerdW

Hi User,

it took you more than two month to get it? 😄

I'm guessing the automated reminder from NI on open threads sent OP an email asking if the issue was solved, reminding them that they hadn't replied or making a solution.
