You could have a look at the VI I've attached, specifically the middle part containing the "Range:Find" method.

 

Caveats:

 

The attached VI works for me, but is largely a cut and paste together of bits I've found on the web.

I know little about ActiveX.

I know less about Excel.

 

So, you take your chances. That said, it may be worth a try.  If it doesn't do what you want, is the answer a different operator to the "*" used. I don't know. Hope it may be of some use anyway.

Toolkit does open existing excel files and able to write into them also.

 

Ii tried by adding and clearing the data. I could find the cell properly....it does not include the cells that are not used any more
