How nice of you to share the solution privately.  If you'd really like to help maybe you should consider telling everyone what your solution was.

Not that it helps you now, but I came across a very similar problem. In the picture below you can see that after the email is sent the attachment is disposed of. Disposing of it then allowed to delete and what not.
