Hi,
LabVIEW 2014 (14.0.1)
LabVIEW SoftMotion Module 14.1.0
NI 9514 servo controller
cRIO-9113 chassis
cRIO 9024 real time target
I am using NI SoftMotion on the real time target to control a Copley Xenus servo through an NI 9514 servo controller. I have set up an Axis with a PID control loop. I have used this with a number of NI SoftMotion commands to control my system. It has been working nicely for days. Occasionally, I have gotten these -70229 time out errors but rebooting usually gets rid of them.
Now, every time I launch my project and go to the Interactive Test Panel under Axis 1, I get error -70229 (which is a time out error). Rebooting doesn't seem to make any difference.
One potentially relevant thing that happened today is that I introduced a quadrature encoder running on the FPGA target and created interface commands in my real time VI to plot data from it. This has necessitating switching the chassis from Scan Interface to FPGA Interface. However, I have launched Interface Test Panel in both Interace configurations and it hasn't fixed the error.
Any ideas much appreciated.

Hi John,
Have you seen this knowledge base article: http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/0F7252C95910B49D86257926005F3B24?OpenDocument ? This might help point you in the right direction fro troubleshooting this error. I would also recommend looking at the following help files as well:
