i work with a pxi daq. is it possible to check the pxi status.
i want to show an error if the pxi isn't available.

Hi Markus,

I'm not sure that I have understood your question but you can use the "Daqmx System/Device Name" fonction to check if the PXI is connected to your computer.

I've also tried this solution.
the device names are also shown if the pxi is off.
i get no error.

Have you also  try with the Reset Device Function??

I've tried a lot, and read some posts in the forum.
but i don't find a solution for this problem.
the user of my project only want to start and use the software. so i had to check the pxi to give an error if needed.

Hi Markus,

you can try to use the VISA Find ressource function...

If that don't work you have no more possibility to know if your PXI is working...

Even i need an application that would just indicate the devices connected to my PXI rack. I used the VISA resource function but then this function doesnt work when PXI controller is an external system.

Is there any way one can find the devices connected to the PXI rack?

Hi Piyu,

Can you explain what you wanted to do?

You can see the cards on your chassis (on the controller) with MAX and if your controller is a RT controller you can see the cards on the remote computer...

I am working on PXI NI 1045 rack with NI 8187 Embedded controller.

On this machine when I execute “VISA Find Resources” I can see all the devices connected to the rack.

At the same time I have another PXI rack NI with external controller. On this machine if I run “VISA Find Resources” I don’t see all the devices connected to the rack.

The application that I need to develop needs to detect all the devices connected to the rack irrespective whether the controller is embedded or external.

Can you describe your two system...
How is your PXI connected with your chassis?

The Visa ressources are for example RS 232, RS 485, GPIB...

What the result of the Find REssources on the PXI with controller?
