compression of simx cd vi's

Solved!
Go to solution

Is there a particular reason some SIMX CD vi's show up in my WINDOWS 7 EXPLORER as being compressed?  For example, see the output below from the cmd.exe compact command:

Listing C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2009\vi.lib\addons\Control Design\_Implementation\SIMX CD Discrete Stochastic State-Space (External)\

New files added to this directory will not be compressed.

    24319 :     24319 = 1.0 to 1   SIMX CD Discrete Stochastic State-Space (External).ctl

    10025 :     10025 = 1.0 to 1   SIMX CD Discrete Stochastic State-Space (External).xnode

    40532 :     36864 = 1.1 to 1 C SIMX CD Discrete Stochastic State-Space (External)_AdaptToInputs.vi

    28414 :     24576 = 1.2 to 1 C SIMX CD Discrete Stochastic State-Space (External)_UpdateState.vi

Every other vi is compressed.  I attempted to decompress them & it appeared to work, but then it reverted back.  This also happens in some other directories as well, but this is a representative example  Again, I used the command COMPACT which the following link provides:

Just to be sure, is this an NTFS formatted directory?  Also, are you attempting to decompress the individual files themselves, or the folder at once?  Per the documentation, changing a folder compression state doesn't always affect the compression of the files within.  Have you tried the command that should compress/uncompress every file on a specified volume?

I think I found the solution.  I was unaware that ther was an option for compression within PROPERTIES for a particular folder.  All I have to do is check/uncheck the option as long as I permissions that allow it.
