com port

HI !

I am using LabVIEW to read a com port. There are three com ports which I have to read.

I am having problem in reading one these three ports. Two ports are not showing error but one port is showing error in reading it.

I have attached my instrument at com1, com4 and com5.

At any run, Com4 is responding but either COM5 or COM1 is responding.

COM1 and COM5 are not responding at the same time.

I am reading these sequentially, for this purpose I am using sequence structure.

I have tried every possible thing. Extended timeout limit, changed the port slot, restarted PC.

Plz help me, I m stuck in this problem since more than one week.

You have not mentioned the make and models of the instruments connected. Are they the same or different? You have not provided the error code that you receive.

Aside from changing the com ports, those trouble shooting steps you mention are not very useful. Did you try a different program such as hyperterminal? Did you try a different type of serial cable? Did you verify the com settings?

p.s. A sequence structure is not at all what you should be using.
