Hello,
I'm a Student and i'm working for a Practice in a Museum in Basel (Switzerland). I'm currently working on a Project called AMOR (Automatisiertes Mess-System zur Untersuchung von SchalenmORphologien). Its a system that analyse microfossils who are really important for the evolution, for datation of some part of the earth(and bunch of other stuff).
(German link)
http://www.nmb.bs.ch/forschung/forschung-geowissenschaften/projekt-amor.htm
The current system is getting old (about 7 years) so my job would be to do a kind of "Upgrade". Its working on windows2000 with Labview8.5 and for the hardware it has :
NI PCI 1405 Framegrabberkarte
NI PCI 6601 digitale Ein- und Ausgabekarte (Digital I/O)
NI PCI 7334 Schrittmotorsteuerkarte (Stepping motor control)
I was able to open the programm (written in LV8.5) with a LV2009 and LV2012 but i didnt install all the drivers and toolboxes. So many SubVi had an interrogation mark ("?") like the one to controll the motors.
My questions are:
-i still have the drivers and toolboxes for the LV8.5, do they work with a new version? will they be able to do the same thing? or do i have to change parts of the programm.
-Does the new version support the NI Hardware i have? i have to propose the same system but with new parts, so if i buy the lastest NI PCI cards, do i have to change some stuff in the software?
-The current camera is Analogue, if i choose to go digital with USB 2.0 output i wont need the framegrabber card, but is it possible to fetch the datas from the usb port (camera)?
You probably saw that i'm far from beeing an expert in Labview... we had like 30 hours LV at the uni and mostly playing with Lego NXT and now i find myself with a huge programm i didnt wrote
But i'm trying to do my best!
Than you for your help!
PS: if you wanna lean more about morphometrics and micropaleontology(my job for the next 3 month):

I highly recommend you find your local NI represenative. They can walk you through this process. I'm mostly saying this since they have some inside information and know who to talk to about your hardware support.

Hello Biscuit67,
You can take a look at the following KB wich explain how to convert VI.
http://www.ni.com/white-paper/8387/fr/
Or you could post your VI on this forum

Best regards.

Thank you for your answers.
I'll have a look at all that and maybe post my message in the hardware section if i still need some help!
