Updating sbRIO software

Could you post the output of running "ipconfig"? If I'm understanding your images correctly, you can see the sbRIO in MAX, but not configure it, which suggests that there's still something wrong with your IP configuration.

Running ipconfig gives me...

Can you do a "tracert 192.168.12.33" (the IP address for your sbRIO) and see if that works? It should, if ping works. I would also remove the default gateway of 192.168.12.1, since I assume there isn't actually a gateway on that connection. Is there anything else on the 192.168.12.xxx connection? Is it possible you have a second device on that network that's configured for the same IP address as the sbRIO, or is it a direct connection to your laptop?

Also I'm a bit confused since you show images with the sbRIO configured as both 192.168.12.33, and as 10.0.0.2 (although I'm guessing in the latter case you weren't able to save those settings).

I deleted the default gatway. When I tried tracert, I got...

Tracing route to 192.168.12.33 over a maximum of 30 hops

1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms 192.168.12.33

Trace complete.

And sorry for the change in IP from my images. I was working with IT and that was an open static IP that they supplied me with to try to get a connection. Also, as far as I am aware, there is nothing else on the 192.168.12.xxx connection. The sbRIO  should be the only thing with that 192.168.12.33 IP address, and it's connected directly via crossover cable.

I'm out of ideas, then. I would expect it to connect properly with both your laptop and the sbRIO configured on the same subnet through a crossover cable and with no other network interfaces enabled.

Were you able to reset the sbRIO using the instructions Spex provided?

I reset it using those instructions, but I still run into the same issue.

When you reset it, it should reset the IP address - does that happen? If not, complete the sequence to the point where you're back to a link-local (169.254.x.x) or 0.0.0.0 (depending on your sbRIO model) address.

Yes. When I reset it, it reverts back to the 169.254.4.42. And when I have my laptop set to obtain IP address automatically, it recognizes the sbRIO is connected, but I still can't view installed software and continue to receive the inconsistent IP settings message.

What if you assign your laptop a static address in the 169.254.x.x range (with the netmask set to 255.255.0.0 and no gateway)? That's what I've always done for initially configuring an sbRIO.

I just tried that, (I set my IP to 169.254.4.43 and netmask 255.255.0.0) and I'm still getting the exact same thing.
