I don't believe this has been suggested yet, but you should also attempt to use the primary NIC on these multi-NIC controllers, as only one port will be enabled (and use the IP displayed in the boot info) by default until you've connected and reenabled/configured the secondary port(s). Also, if you have any additional network cards in the chassis, the fastest will generally be the one used by default, so if you have one or more GigE cards you'll probably need to try each or remove the additional cards until the system is configured. Check the link lights to see which ones may be active.
Due to the successful ping, I'd also confirm that something else on the network isn't already using the IP address in question- what is your network topology and where is the target relative to the host? Is this a managed network? A direct link-local connection?

Thanks for the suggestion. I did read about using the primary/fastest network card. I actually did try both. Using the secondary doesn't work at all as you implied. Using the primary is what I've been reporting about where I'm still having trouble. I've tried a direct network connection (without crossover cable, letting the adapters do the job), and also with an unmanaged switch. I've done this with and without other targets/hosts on the system. The result is the same with MAX complaining about insufficient drivers, etc.

By any chance do you have multiple IP addresses assigned to the NIC on your Windows PC? This is currently a know issue in the current shipping version of MAX (note this should be fixed in our 14.0 release). If so, you could try to remove the secondary NIC from your PC.
The other thing that can be problematic is firewalls on your PC. You may want to open up your firewall settings to make sure MAX isn't being blocked. You could also testing this by temporarily disabling the Windows firewall and then relaunching MAX to see if it helps you discover the target.

ThOr from NI helped me to resolve this. The PXIe-8840 requires MAX 5.6 to be installed. 5.5 does not work.

Hi
I have the same problem. My MAX version is 18.0 and still getting the same errors.
Additional info: host PC is running at Windows 10 and PXIe-8840 is dual boot (Windows 7 and RT). Can anyone please help me to resolve this issue?
