USB Joystick

I am trying to find out how to read a USB joystick in labVIEW. I am a
complete novice in this area and have no idea where or how to start.
Has anyone done this?

I don't know if it will help, but there are a couple of joystick examples at http://zone.ni.com/devzone/devzone.nsf/webcategories/E2A99E7E10D5725D862567AC004F0A53?opendocument&node=DZ52048_US. I used one of these a couple of years ago with a non-USB joystick and it worked fine. The one I used worked with any joystick for which there was a driver installed. You might want to give them a try.

I know this is an old post, but this may  still help someone. I've attached code in LabVIEW 2012 that interfaces with a USB joystick using the built-in joystick interface VIs that are included with LV....
