TCP/IP Connecting with Real Time Controller

Can someone save the vi's in LabVIEW 8.2.1 and repost?

Attached are RT Client.zip (RT controller connects to host computer) and RT Server.zip (host computer connects to RT controller) saved in LabVIEW 8.0.  Have a great day!

Can anyone tell me if these zip files can be converted to LV2009?

Just download them and open them.  LV 2009 can open LV 8.0.

Thank you for the reply!  The programs run just fine; however, I am unable to disconnect the ethernet cable w/o generating 'loss of connectivity' error messages.  I just need an LED to light up telling me my 9012 cRIO has gone offline.  Is there anyway to do this?  I am trying to simulate a host computer and cRIO connected to a network - not to each other.  If one comes online before the other I need to verify this from the host computer because our cRIO cannot run the middleware (OpenSplice) software used on the network.  Another thing I would like to know is why can I not see the TCP/IP connection from the Front Panel Connection Manager available from the Tools menu while the programs are running!  - Regards, John

Hi John,

To have an LED light up on your 9012 whenever it goes offline, you need to run a VI on the controller that periodically pings another network device.  If the controller can't reach this device (which should have a high reliability), then it knows it has lost network connectivity and can light its LED.

For your second question, are you referring to the Remote Panel Connection Manager?  If so, are you connected to a remote front panel hosted on the cRIO?

Peter,

Thank you for the reply.  I'm sorry, I should have clarified that the LED we need to light up is on the Host.vi front panel.  I just called NI to get directions on how to activate my Remote Connections Manager and install the RT files on our cRIO 9012.  I should be ready to go tomorrow.  I do however see that our NI License Manager indicates that we have an 'Activated' Remote Panel Connections Status already.  That, I would think will make it easier to get started.  The following thread will provide you with some background on my application.  - comments welcome.  Thanks again, John
