It looks like LabVIEW uses the TWO-PASS algorithm, shich is certainly the simplest and most straightforward. But it does mean that I have to keep all the samples around for the whole (unknown) duration.
It looks like one of the ONLINE algorithms will better suit me: for example, when the data are being collected without enough storage to keep all the values,
I'll see if I can make those work.
