Register RTSI cable and add devices without MAX?

Is there any way to register a RTSI cable and add devices without using MAX?

We recently upgraded to LV2015 and have a lot of field upgrades to do. Ultimately we are hoping to deploy DAQmx Runtime (~180MB) rather than DAQmx Runtime with Configuration Support which includes MAX and weighs in at ~1224MB!!

The only thing we do with MAX is register a RTSI cable and add a pair of X-series cards to it. If we could somehow achieve this without requiring MAX we would be very happy indeed!

Configure the RTSI cable and add the DAQmx devices to it using MAX.  Then from MAX File->Export the configuration to an NCE file, just be sure to select the RTSI cable and DAQmx devices from the Export wizard.  Finally, use the NI System Configuration API to programmatically Import the NCE file when your application runs or include it with your LV built installer to be deployed at install.

Cool - I will give that a go!

Presumably the .nce file will work on any system with identical NI cards installed, irrespective of OS, bitness, etc... Is that correct?
