Read Keithly 2182A and 6221 using Ethernet Communication

I am having some trouble connecting a 2182A nanovoltmeter to a 6221 current source using the pc control system. The current source connection with the ethernet works fine, but the nanovoltmeter encounters a -113 error (Unidentified Header). The RS-232 and the trigger link cable are connected as indicated and the RS-232 is on. I can't find what's the problem.

Following settings are done on  Model 2182A  and 6221

for RS-232 with
19,2k BAUD
FLOW = NONE
TC TERM = CR

I have used keithley driver programs for Keithley 622x LV 2009

Using these programs I am able to set current on 6221. But not able to read voltage. I am sending command through Ethernet Port.

My requirement is to apply current for specified time to DUT  and then read voltage on 2182 and record it in PC and plot IV curve.

Any example vi is more helpful for me.

Thanks.

Rupali

Your description is very confusing. You talk about Ethernet, but describe the serial port settings of the device. And at some point you say you can control the current source device 6621 fine, but can't talk to the nanovoltmeter, and later you say you can set the current on the 6621 but can't read its voltage.

With a description like that it's really impossible to even start to guess where the problem might be.

Hi,

My connection is as per following block diagram image as attached.

I am able to set current on Keithley current source(6221) using Ethernet Port.

For setting current on current source I have used keithley instrument driver programs.

I want to read voltage on nanovoltmeter 2182A.

Thanks

Rupali

Hi, could you explain to us how you find a solution for that problem. We have the same as you!

Please start a new thread and describe your problem in detail.

I don't know if the OP (from 2017!) even got their system working.

But a quick look at their diagram and it looks like:

  1. Ethernet from computer to 6221
  2. Serial from 6221 to 2182A

You probably can't do that and it should be:

  1. Ethernet from computer to an Ethernet hub
  2. Ethernet from hub to 6221
  3. Ethernet from hub to 2182A

OR possibly:

  1. Ethernet from computer to 6221
  2. RS-232 serial from hub to 2182A

Even maybe:

  1. RS232 serial from computer to 6221
  2. Ethernet from hub to 2182A

It could even be:

  1. RS232 serial from computer to 6221
  2. RS232 serial from computer to 2182A
