Plans to abandon Silverlight?

Solved!
Go to solution

Are there plans to replace the Silverlight-based Web interface of RT-targets?

Just ran into issues with it and Google Chrome, and the consensus seems to be that Silverlight as a technology is dead...but surprisingly I could not find much discussion about that topic here(?).

I suspect at some point they'll phase it out as, like you say, Microsoft are no longer continuing to support it.

What problems are you having with Chrome? I use Chrome and can't say that I've had any problems with the Silverlight-based System Configuration utility.

Ah - it seems in the latest update to Chrome (I now have 42.0.2311.90 m) they have disabled all of the NPAPI plugins (e.g. java, silverlight etc.). You can enable it from chrome:flags which will then allow silverlight to work again - until another update later in the year might remove the functionality completely.
