Nonsense error message at open/create/replace file.vi

Hi

I wonder if anybody elce has ever had this crazy nonsense error message pop-up in open/create/replace file.vi.

I try to run my vi, which has the open/create/replace.vi. built into it as a sub-vi.  However it won't run and I get the error message pop-up: NI-488 command requires GPIB controller to be the controller in charge.  This is total nonsence as the vi does not run any GPIB controllers!

Any ideas anybody???

Many thanks

Hello Ashley,

have you read the full message?
"Error 1 occurred at an unidentified location

Possible reason(s):

LabVIEW:  An input parameter is invalid.
---
NI-488:  Command requires GPIB Controller to be Controller in Charge.
"

So it says: invalid parameter!

(Personally I don't like that NI uses the same error numbers to filehandling and GPIB communication.)

Hope this helps 🙂
Best regards,
GerdW

Many Thanks Ged.

It was the error message that confused me and stop me from seeing the real problem.

Thanks again

Congratulations! You have found one of the few last remaining artifacts of LV Version 1. Originally LV "recycled" error codes--don't remember why anymore--and you have found one.
