I would also consider putting something in each test fixture which the program can read to verify that the correct fixture is being used.  This can prevent (or at least detect) user errors which could result in invalid meaurements.  Without knowing more about your system I cannot provide specific suggestions.

Hi Lynn,

pretty simple jig setup;  mechanical fixtures that only hold the vacuum trim capacitors (different sizes) and then I connect the LCR meter clips to the caps, adjust them  to values within specs and read the numbers off of  the LCR meter.

capacitors also have bard codes that I scan to read the serial numbers.

nothing more, nothing less.

Thanks

Have you attempted to implement the suggestions? Have you taken any of the free tutorials or loomed at the standard designs such as a state machine?

Dennis... your suggestion of using Teststand did not hep at all. it is an overkill and I can't take that route.

That's your decision. You can implement most of its features yourself with just LabVIEW. The previously mentioned state machine architecture will be the place to start.
