Dear All,

I installed PCI 6023E and PCI 6514 DAQ cards in my system. I am using PCI 6023E card for AIs and PCI 6514 for DI & DOs.

I have installed the NI MAX (Version 4.7), NI DAQmx (Version 9.1.7) & LV Runtime Engine 2010 SP1 software seperately from the CD i have got with the PCI 6514. Now i am able to generate DO from the PCI 6514 & able to Acquire AI from PCI 6023E but unable to read DI from PCI 6514 card.

Possible problems i have checked are:

1. Checked for the input voltage levels; it is 24V (exactly 23.08V)

2. Changed the port lines and even port itself

3. Prescribed lines for the port are grounded whenver i change the port

4. Even directly supplied 24V into the DI (100 Pin CB) but not able to read the DI in MAX

I suspect either the PCI 6514 card is not working properly for DI or MAX is not working

but in that case how DOs and AIs are working???

Please help me out if any one have faced this problem or have a solution for this...

Are you using MAX to read the Digital Inputs and still its not working?.

Ya i am using MAX only and not able to read DI,

thats not the solution; its a problem right???

i am not able to make out is it PCI 6514 card problem or NI MAX problem???

Are you sure that you are feeding the data to the correct Digital Input? Because when I saw the specification the Digital lines are not Bi-directional so there may be chance of using wrong input and also just try to run self test once in the MAX (Am not sure how far this helps)

Yes i am sure i am supplying data to correct DI.. PCI 6514 has 8 ports out of which P0 to P3 are DIs and P4 to P7 are DOs.

I checked with all the four DI ports; but not working. Supplied correct data and necessary pins for the port are also grounded so that there is no grounding issue

I have even tested with looping back the DO to DI, Reinstalled NI MAX but no use.

Now i am sure that it is related to hardware only either PCI 6514 card's DIs are not functioning or shielded 100-conductor cable (NI SH100-100-F) is not working.

PROBLEM SOLVED...!!!!

Actual problem was with NI SH100-100-F cable.

I just removed it and reinserted it properly and problem sorted out.

But how this can happen, even before it was inserted perfectly only; as i said earlier DOs were working fine only issue was with DIs. If it was not inserted properly DOs must also be not working.

Anyways, i feel this thread is helpful in debugging such hardware issues...!!!!
