NI Developer Suite 2012 DS1 Disks install only 2011 SP1

Solved!
Go to solution

My operating system is Win7U64b. When I first installed LabVIEW (32 bit) from these disks 2012 DS1 was installed. I did a complete uninstall and then reinstall of LabVIEW (32 bit). After the reinstall, only LabVIEW 2011 SP1 was installed and 2012 DS1 was not. Why? How can I get LabVIEW 2012 DS1 back?

C'mon man, what would possibly make you think that LV2012 would be in Developer Suite 2012?  Smiley Tongue

Perhaps you grabbed the Q1 disks this time.

I only have one set of disks and our subscription lapsed after that delvery. The disks were labeled NI Developer Suite 2012 DS1.

The LabVIEW version is not directly related to the Developer Suite version.  Developer Suite 2012 DS1 has LabVIEW 2011 SP1.  Developer Suite 2012 DS2 will have LabVIEW 2012.  Developer Suite 2013 DS1 has LabVIEW 2012 SP1.  See the pattern?  This is because the major release of LabVIEW is in August with NI Week and the service pack comes out the following winter/spring time frame.

This is a constant complaint NI has heard since 2010 when LabVIEW 2009 SP1 was released with Developer Suite 2010 DS1.

I found another set of disks labeled NI Developer Suite 2012 DS2. That was probably the problem. I will install these and report results.

I tried installing the disk set labeled "NI Developer Suite 2012 DS2". When the installer requested Disk3, I inserted it in the DVD/CD drive and the error in Figure 10 was continuously displayed after pressing the 'Try Again' or the 'Continue' button. As you can see in Figure 11, Windows Explorer indicates that the active disk in the drive is indeed '2012DS2-DVD3'. What is the best way to proceed from this point?

Hidden under the installation error message, was another small window that allowed an input to continue. Had I not by chance tried moving the error message I would not have been able to continue the installation.

1.  It looks like you are installing LabWindows/CVI.  I thought you were trying to install LabVIEW?

2.  2012DS2-ENG.  I assume ENG means English.  I have never seen that name for LabVIEW DVD's before.  My developer suite includes LabWindows/CVI, but I never install it because I don't use it.  Maybe the problem is in the install process for LW/CVI (which leads back to point #1).
