Our Vision Development Module is specifically designed to help you develop vision applications. You can see more information on our VDM here: http://www.ni.com/labview/vision/
As far as that specific camera, it should work the same as all USB cameras with LabVIEW. But to do any Vision processes you’ll need the VDM.
If you want some feedback from customers on VDM’s usability, try posting on the Machine Vision forum and see if their feedback is helpful. This forum can be found here: http://forums.ni.com/t5/Machine-Vision/bd-p/200

Hello,
I was wondering if this was ever solved?
I am also trying to use a moticam 3.
I downloaded IMAQ/IMAQdx and like you said, all USB cameras should be able to be used with it.
However, I cannot find the caera on the NI measurement and automation explorer.
If I cannot find it there, I don't suppose I can use it.
Is there anyway to add it? or is this a telling sign it cannot be used

I have tried to look up some information about the Moticam 3. I think that this is the webpage for this product: http://www.motic.com/As_Moticam_CMOS/product_213.html . Is that right?
The NI-IMAQdx driver is able to work with cameras that support these camera standards:
This catalog from Motic says on page 12 that it follows the "Direct Show" format: http://www.motic.com/upload/File/new_moticam_booklet_EN.pdf. If so, then it should be supported in LabVIEW using the IMAQdx driver.
This document gives a lot of useful information about how to troubleshoot this problem. http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/C1BC2D93ADC392BB8625768C0060AFE7?OpenDocument
One common problem that I would check soon is to make sure that the manufacturer's camera driver is installed as well as IMAQdx.
