I've been using Windows 8.1 Pro now for about 2 years with HyperV feature installed (which is free with Pro version of Windows and above). Running Windows 7 Ulimate VMs (required for multi-monitor over remote desktop connection), each with a specific version of LabVIEW installed. VMs are portable, so I can move them from my desktop to Laptop as required to work on equipment that is deployed in the field.
This works very well if all the targets I'm connecting to are over ethernet. USB targets require a peice of software to shared the host USB port to the VM over ethernet. It works, but takes a couple of steps to configure. Other than that, I have no issues running the VMs.
