MAX crashes on Dell Optiflex 990 (Exception code: 0xc0000005)

The problem was solved already. I like to share some information. It may be helpful for others experiencing the same issue.

We have a Dell Optiflex computer, fresh re-imaged with WIndows 7 64-bit, MS Office, etc... Additionally LabVIEW 2013 Developer suite, DAQmx drivers, some other drivers, including MAX 5.6.

Well, MAX was refusing to start, i.e. crashing with an error message Exception code: 0xc0000005 Access Denied. We noticed also that Internet Explorer was crashing. Everything else was working fine. NI technical support suggested to download and install the latest MAX version, but this didn't help either.

We were thinking to start from scratch again, but then one of or IT guys figured out that there is an issue with the video card driver. He rolled back to an older version and MAX started without any problems and no new installation.

Here is also some additional information: Internet Explorer 8 32-bit crashes on Dell Optiplex 990 Windows 7 x64
