LabVIEW for Everyone, 3rd edition is now shipping!

This looks great. Just one question. Is this designed around any hardware? Do I need to own specific hardware in order to run examples?

I currently only work with LV8, PDA, and the cRIO. Actually, mostly the cRIO. Would this book help also in that regard?

Thanks

Jeff

I clicked on the link to purchase and it shows a book but it says it's updated to labview 6. How do I know I get the latest version?

Thanks

You want the third edition and that's wat you get on the provided link..

(As stated on the Amazon page, the 6i blurb ... "--This text refers to the Paperback edition. ", which is the second edition.)

Jeff,

Make sure that you get the 3rd edition (ISBN # 0131856723), which is the only edition that is a hardcover.  If you follow the order link on http://labviewforeveryone.com, you will get to the right place, on Amazon.com.  When you are chosing a seller, you should double check to make sure that everything is still correct.

Thank you,

Jeff,

The book has a lot of information about DAQmx.  And, the book also shows how to create DAQmx simulated devices in MAX, which can be used with most of the DAQmx examples.

The book does not discuss the specifics of the PDA, FPGA, or cRIO add-on modules.

Thanks,

Having NOT read anything on the event structure, my curiosity was peeked by the code "Event Tracking.VI" (found in Examples\general\uievents.llb" see page 595 of Jim's book).

The enum labeled "type" has all of the "Types" of events defined.

I never was quite sure what to do with the "Type" property.

I'm on this chapter right now...and cannot find the Event Tracking.vi to examine....any ideas where it is?

I can't find the example path listed.....and when using labview search for examples, it doesn't show up.

I'm using LV 2011....is it not in this version now?

Thanks,

cayenne

Hi cayenne,

If opening the example finder from the LabVIEW help menu, the example is under: "Building User Interfaces >> Acquiring User Input >> General >> Event Tracking.vi"

Let me know if you can't find it.

Eric
