LV 8.6 Student Edition with Windows 7

In the middle of this semester, in which I'm taking a LabVIEW class, my laptop crashed.  I quickly replaced with a Gateway NetBook running Windows 7 Starter edition.  When I start to install LabVIEW 8.6 Student Edition, I get error windows:

LabVIEW Student Edition Software Suite

Error:  Windows SDK function returned an error (Error code-12)

End Error Report

Does LV 8.6 SE run under Win 7 Starter?  If not, will it run under a different (upgraded) version of Win 7?

Or am I just screwed?

Search the forums for "error 12" and sort by date.  Several people have had problems using Windows 7.

See these two links for some possible work arounds.

I am having a similar problem. I ma trying to install Labview 8.6 on an EeePC 1005HA running Windows 7 Starter Edition I don't get an error 12 message, it simply states "This product does not support Windows Starter Edition. Consult the documentation for operating system requirements."

I tired installing using the Troubleshooting Compatibilty mode as suggested in the other threads but got the same result.

Is there some sort of work around for this or do I have to pay for an upgrade? Will the Home version be enough?

Thanks,

Tim

Hello all,

Versions of Windows 7 that do not have limitations causing problems with NI software include:

  • Home Premium
  • Professional
  • Enterprise
  • Ultimate
  •

Other packages will show various errors.

    I hope this helps,

    Kind Regards,
