For those interested in remotely accessing LabVIEW applications with a desktop or mobile browser, Bergmans Mechatronics is pleased to announce the LabSocket System. The system can be used on a wide range of popular browsers, including Safari for the iPod, iPhone and iPad, because it does not require the use of browser plug-ins.
Behind the scenes, the theory of operation of the system is quite simple. First, on starting a LabSocket-enabled LabVIEW application, the system re-creates the application Front Panel as a web page. Then, during normal operation, the system dynamically synchronizes the web page and Front Panel using the WebSocket communications standard. The LabSocket system employs the VI Server to monitor and modify the main application Front Panel. As a result, operation of the LabSocket is independent of the LabVIEW application.
The LabSocket website ( http://labsocket.com ) includes videos, a downloadable demo version of the system, a description of a commercial application using the system, details about the system theory of operation and more.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about the system or need help getting the demo code up and running.
