How to use Microsoft sidewinder 2 in LV8

Hi all.
I wonder if anyone experienced reading Microsoft Sidewinder 2 joystick in labview. I see one post by Dennis Knutson saying that has worked with that, but the post is dated 2000...I've been searching in web and there is some people that worked with DirectInput (writing code in c language for example). Is this the best way? Like writing code in C and make some kind of dll to interface it with labview, or is there any other option?

Thank you.

Well, sometimes seems that we need to ask for help to thing appear...I found another joystick post with a link. There I navigated and found in the zone.ni an example using the joystick.dll that has almost all needed methods... Works just great... But for Microsoft Sidewinder 2 there are not buttons 5, 6, 7 and 8 and the throttle. is there any ideia?

Care to post a URL to that page for future reference?

More hits you get on a thread search the better...

LV has joystick VIs In the Advanced>>Input Devices palette (they didn't exist back in 2000).
Any reason not to use those?
