How to detect peak dB with sound toolkit

Measuring peak audio level of pure tones from hearing test equipment

I am using the line in input for my sound card to capture sound using a male to male 3.5mm cable.

I pass the 100ms pure tone into the SVT "SVL peak sound level" function.

The audio tones are calibrated and can be played at increments of 10 dB.  120 dB (over headphones) corresponds to about 1 Volt on the input.  However, the peak sound level function  reads a dB of 0 for 120 dB audio.  And if I play a quieter tone, 70 dB for example I get -12 dB.

I would think the line in on audio cards to be pretty standard.  Is there not a standard vi or funtion that converts the input of a soundcard to how loud it plays over headphones?

-Regards

Hi eximo,

Did you use the SVL Scale Voltage to EU before using the SVL peak sound level function?
