How do I make a program that doesn't need to be installed?

Just to clairify a bit on the student stuff.  LabVIEW is free for students.  It is initially free for 6 months, but I've seen several NI people say you can keep renewing those 6 months as long as you are a student.  And LabVIEW is $20 for students for a license that doesn't expire, or $58 with a bunch of toolkits.  They also have a $50 bundle that comes with an Arduino on sparkfun.

Frankly,  as an alliance partner, I lease my software reference library at a reasonable rate per year.
