Did you mean:

How can I open a second vi panel from first?

Here is what I mean:

Load the two attached VIs.

In Customized Window Appearance set the called VI to "Default" (calling VI is also Default).

Both VIs run fine.

Now set the called VI to "Floating", save and close VIs.

Run calling VI again, then press button for calling Sub VI.

Both VIs still run fine, that is, the called VI closes when "back" button is clicked.

Now close both VIs AND the orange screen.

Run calling VI again, then press button for calling Sub VI.

Now close called VI with "back" button.

The called VI panel does NOT close.

The behavior is different!

That's why you have to close the orange LabVIEW screen to see the real behavior.

You got some bad advice. It should be show front panel when called and then the close option.

That's what I had originally, "Show front panel when called" and "close afterwards".

I experimented a bit and found there is no difference using "Show front panel when loaded", that's why I left it.

But, I switched back to the first.
