What exactly are you trying to accomplish with this. It doesn't make much sense to connect the value read from a Shared Variable to a controller, so could you clarify what you want to accomplish with this.

Right click on the control.  Properties.  Go to Data Binding tab.  Connect it through the PSP engine to your shared variable.

(But I'm not sure if all versions of LabVIEW have that, or just ones with the DSC module.)
