GPS "Venus638FLPx-L 20Hz " inteface with Labview

I have an GPS module "Venus GPS with SMA Connector" (https://www.sparkfun.com/products/11058)which has update rate of 20 Hz. But when I iterface this with LabVIEW  to fetch GPS coordintes , SOG, altitude & heading using serial visa it only works at update rate of 5-6 Hz. How can I collect d data at 20 Hz using labview?

Actually the datasheet says rates "up to 20Hz". How fast is the serial port running?

...also, do you know how long each update packet is?
