Error in opening AVI file

IMAQ AVI2 open is throwing error when tried open MPEG-4 codec. I have tried all different codec sources - System , Default and Built in Vision but none of them works. Error is : Invalid AVI session

Surprisingly IMAQ AVI open module is working perfectly fine for the above mentioned video codec.  Can I use this one? Is it deprecated?

Please do let me know if there are other ways I could try, basically,  I would like to read MPEG - 4 AVI file now and at later stage, I would like to read from streaming camera,

Did you record the AVI using LabVIEW?  Have you tired to use IMAQ AVI2 Get Info to find the CODEC used to encode the file?  When in doubt about dropping frames I take a video of a stopwatch and play it back.
