Controlling a USB HID device (Joystick, Keyboard, Mouse) using LabView

How did you get that index?  Did you try 0?  There are numerous things that could be happening here.  What other data did that VI return?

   Thanks a lot for the reply....Yesterday my problem was solved. I just tried the device index "4" as the input to the device Index of Joystick Initialize.vi instead of the default "0" . Then the joystick was recognised.

Long story short, OP and anyone else who found this post helpful are the users of NI and Labview. If OP found the built in Help function not helpful, then there are others who found the same.

Ultimately the customer is right, because the purpose of the Help function is to help the customer. If it doesn't it doesn't, it's not the user's fault they didn't know HOW to use the Help, it's the Help's fault that it could not help the user. The whole point of service software is to be more intuitive for the user.
