Hello everyone,
I am currently working on detecting michelle electrons, and my professor would like us to switch our work over to a VMEbus with a V1718 and a V775 N.
I currently have LabVIEW 2015 installed as well as the libraries and all the drivers needed. My computer is a Surface Book with Windows 10, 64bit. The V1718 Manual said this about the connection for my computer:
"The V1718 – PC interface is USB 2.0 compliant; previous issues are also supported. USB data transfer takes place through the High Speed Bulk Transaction protocol. The VME Bus data transfer does not require to be strictly synchronised to the USB transfer thanks to a 128 kbyte local buffer. (pg 7)"
I am trying to use the project file called caen_vme_demo.vi to speak with the V1718. This program asks for an Address Mode, Data Width, Address (Hex), DWrite (Hex), and Size.
Can anyone tell me what these are?
I also have other questions once I get this shortcoming resolved.
Thank you !

Hi embry,
you know you are asking in a forum dedicated to LabVIEW?
Questions about VME bus specifics?
Maybe the answer is in the manuals of your V*** devices? Did you check them?
Or maybe you should read some beginners guide for VME bus devices?
Also you should read the manuals of your devices like this one. It has a chapter on "VME interface" and "Addressing capability"…
I am trying to use the project file called caen_vme_demo.vi
This is a VI, but not a project file. And you didn't attach it, so we cannot see it's block diagram…

Hi,
Have you successfully completed your work? I have some questions to ask you and I hope you can help me.
I am working on DAQ with V1718 and V1729. Firstly, I copy the program provided by CAEN, which has been attached, but it didn't work. So my professor suggested me to use VME Demo to check whether I can communicate with v1718. However, I don't how to do that and what does those parameters mean? Do you have any suggestions for me?
I urgently look forward to you reply.
Thank you very much.

Hi Rui,
You'd be better off posting a new thread in the dedicated VXI/VME forum: https://forums.ni.com/t5/VXI-and-VME/bd-p/350. This thread's over a year old and also shouldn't have been posted in the LabVIEW forum in the first place.
