Automation Direct CLICK PLC communication

It has been ages since I've used LabView to do this, so I've forgotten how...

I'm trying to use LabView 2015 Pro Dev to connect to an Automation Direct CLICK PLC so that I can read and write bits to the/from the PLC.  Is there a way to do it directly or do I need an OPC server package to mediate between the two?  I'm trying to make this as simple (read: cheap) as possible with the fewest steps involved.

OK, further information...

AD tech support says that I need to use Modbus RTU to communicate to the CLICK PLC.

Now to find a Modbus RTU module...
