Antialiasing filter selection

Solved!

Deal Sir

I want to select antialiasing filter. I am collecting real time data from current probe via NI Mseries DAQ 6281. My sampling rate is 8 kHz and Total samples 40 k. What value of frequency I should choose for antialiasing filter?

Profound Regards

With a smpling rate of 8 kHz the bandwidth of the signal to be sampled should be limited to less than 4 kHz.  This is called the Nyquist criterion. The total number of samples does not matter.  The exact cutoff frequence, the type, and the order of the filter required depend on the bandwidth of the desired signal and how much noise or interferring signal energy is present above the Nyquist limit.

My Frequency of interest is 1200 Hz. So for 8 KHz sampling rate, if I choose low pass filter of 1500 Hz then is it ok?
