hello

With the labview toolkit nxt it 's possible, to set the brick to keep alive ( NXTKeepAlive ).

How can I manage to set the brick into the sleep mode and then awake it later. Is this possible ?

For measureing it's intersting. Otherwise the battery get very soon off.

thanks

Andreas

Hi Andreas:

Sorry, but there isn't a programmatic way to sleep or wake the NXT.   Basically, the firmware keeps a timer and when that timer reaches zero, the NXT turns off.  The KeepAlive command simply resets that internal timer -- it isn't actually doing any power management of the NXT.

Could you use the rechargeable battery and just keep the NXT always plugged in?  This limits the range of your NXT, since it will be tethered to a power source, but you'll never run out of battery.

thanks a lot.

Sometimes it's usefull to leave the NXT as a stand alone tool. For this reasons it would be great, if nxt could work autonomous.

best regards

You may be interested in some data points collected by H.A.L.E. (the High Altitude LEGO Extravaganza).  They chose Energizer Lithium batteries and saw average lifetimes of 8-9 hours.  You can see more specific metrics here:
