LabView to EV3 robot via Bluetooth will not connect

Hi. I have successfully paired my Mac with an EV3 robot via Bluetooth.

To control the EV3 robot I have written a LabView vi program. Of course, I have installed the NXT/EV3 module recently released.

When I connect the EV3 robot to my Mac via USB, the vi works flawlessly.

However, when I then disconnect USB cable and try ot connect via Bluetooth I am partially sucessful. By this I mean the LabView recognises the EV3 robot via Bluetooth but refuses to connect when I click Connect -- see image attached.

I have tried 3 different EV3 bricks on 2 computers but still refuses to connect.

Has anyone else had this experience?

Can anyone here advise please?

Thank you.

Hi, do you see a dialog asking for the 4 digit passcode on either the mac or the EV3 screen? What OSX version are you using?

Hello.

OSX is latest update of Mavericks.

I used Bluetooth setup assistant so that no passcode required.

The EV 3 is paired when I look at Bluetooth Preferences on Mac and also appears connected when viewed in EV3 software.

I seem to have trouble connecting via LabView as shown in the attachment.

Thank you.

Are you using LabVIEW 2013 or LabVIEW 2012 SP1?

If you are already connected to the EV3 from the EV3 software, then you would not be able to connect from LabVIEW, but you would still find the EV3 in the search results in the "Find NXT/EV3" window. So in that case, I'd expect behavior similar to what you're seeing.

If that isn't the problem, I'd try removing it from the Bluetooth devices in Setup Assistant, and letting LabVIEW do the Bluetooth pairing. Let me know how that goes when you try that.

re.  letting LabVIEW do the Bluetooth pairing..

SUCCESS - thank you very much. We can now connect to EV3 via LabView. This means we now control our EV3 robot via an OpenSim virtual world and also use LEAP Motion Controller for hands-free control.

Sample videos online if anyone is interested Smiley Happy
