Polymorphic VI creation

Status: New

The creation method for Polymorphic VIs is too cumbersome. It is a lot of work to go through each field and manually enter the information; especially if there are lots of data to create. It would be much more time-saving to be able to enter it all in a spreadsheet, and have the creator read from this spreadsheet. People would be much less intimidated to use the creator.

Or allow tabbing to the next field in a table would already be a huge time-saver when setting the selector texts.

There's a halfway decent polymorphic VI editor posted on LAVA, but I totally agree that NI should improve this dialog process.

Ever have 50 polymorphic types?  Yeah that UI doesn't work well and constantly scrolls to the top after some edits.  Then there are the semi-hidden features like being able to use the colon ":" in the Menu Name to make submenu items.  An improved editor with drag and drop (like the project) easier key navigation as mentioned with tabbing, and maybe right clicking for common operations, are just a few suggestions.  Heck this could be viewed in the project as a collapsible item, that has virtual folders as submenu types for editing, and get rid of the existing editor all together.
