Compiler optimalisation options to get rid of the long compile times

Status: Completed

See this KnowledgeBase entry regarding the compiler setting for this issue: http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/3A28C7098620AFD78625783400763C69

I would like to have some kind of compiler optimalisation options.

The save time is often to long, Editing is annoying

Editing in LV2010 often halts for 10-20 seconds because it it recompiling the code for some reason.

If we had some option to turn off "advanced optimalisation" things might go fluently, like in the old days.

Sounds the same as this

LV 2010 SP1 will address this performance hit.

It is not the same as Postponing.

I want to get rid of this optimalisation if I do not need it.

Then saving and running (testing) could always be fast.

A lot of compilers have options to set the amount of optimalisation you want (or need).

I agree with Rindert. By NI's own admission, compile times can be 5x as long! It may not be easy to do, but it would be great if there were a compiler switch to go back to pre-LabVIEW 2010 compiler performance. The user could then uncheck this option when he/she is ready to build.

There's a compiler setting for this now!
