Add a "Mouse Scroll" event

Status: Completed
Available in LabVIEW 2013

It would be nice if NI added "Mouse Scroll" (and its counterpart filter event) to the supported events. Today, you can do this by using the mouse input VIs in a separate loop and polling, but that's not a very nice solution.

Another good reason to add this event is because XControls don't (yet!) support dynamic events, so detecting mouse scrolling inside an XControl is not particular easy or tidy.

So many kudos, so few comments. Must be a good idea. And yet, almost 3 years old and it's not gone anywhere? Are there technical issues preventing this from happening?

Is there a release date for this?

Will this be a patch that could be added to labVIEW 2011?

Thanks.

Generally, new LabVIEW releases are announced at NIWeek, which is about three weeks from now.

NI only releases things like security and stability fixes as patches for older versions, so you shouldn't expect this in 2011. If you can't or don't want to install LV 2013 when it comes out, you can use the methods described and linked to here.
