Making building applications easier for new users

Since LabVIEW 8.0, you are required to create a project to build an application. While that requirement is documented, there are customers who end up asking "How can I build an EXE from my VI?". There are users who don't work with projects and those users seem to have the hardest time building apps.

From a usability perspective, how can LabVIEW improve to help users take a VI and make an EXE out of it? What usability improvements can be made to help advanced users as well. This is not a discussion of feature requests for app builder, but how to make the user experience better.

I'll never turn down an opportunity to do some shameless self-promotion...

Take a look at how easy it is to build a package, using VIPM 2.0.  No build specs or anything: just pick your source, build, and install.

Cheers,
