what's the difference between 488.2-1.7 and 2.10 with respect to GPIB comms?

Hardware attached to the PCI GPIB card installed and operated correctly using 488.2 version 1.7 until I had a Labview crash and had to re-install 488.2- 2.10. I'm now getting a fail on the wizard on sequential verification "One or More GPIB interfaces failed". the hardware hasn't changed - is there a problem with backward compatibility with this version, i.e must I find and re-install 1.7 to restore my system? 2.1 seems to be looking for GPIB+ not GPIB0 as before though I'm not sure the difference.

El-d,

You should certainly be able to use 2.1 with your PCI-GPIB. I recommend the following procedure:

1) Uninstall all references to NI-488.2 using Add/Remove Programs.
2) Shut down and remove your PCI-GPIB card
3) Restart and install 488.2 version 2.1
4) Shut down and re-insert the PCI-GPIB
5) Restart... it should work at this point.

I do have one important question though: What version of Windows are you using?
