having trouble with a thermocouple which is reading 1000°F when pushing the start button...it should be reading room temperature.

More details on the type of thermocouple, electrical connections to it, interface to DAQ card that is used, DAQ hardware used, software setup and a post of your vi would be of great help in terms of assisting you. Other than that, turn down the thermostat
