As was said before, move the Configure Serial Port to before the loop and the Close VISA Session after the loop.  Leave the timeout unwired.  10 seconds is just fine.

Another thing that could help you is the fact that the case structure will accept strings.  Just wire your read data straight into the case selector.  You can then have a case for each of your possible values.  Do this instead of having cascading case structures.  It makes life a lot easier.
