Hi Farzad_Sh,

I'll need a bit more information before being able to troubleshoot this issue.

Which PCI-GPIB card are you using and do you have NI VISA installed? If not, the link to download this driver can be found here:

http://www.ni.com/download/ni-visa-15.0.1/5693/en/

Are your Hioki devices SCPI compliant?

This article is very helpful in making sure everything is set up correctly and giving some background as to how NI MAX communicates with your instruments.

https://www.ni.com/getting-started/set-up-hardware/instrument-control/gpib-connect

This link will be of primary interest to you, given what is happening. It is a troubleshooting document for devices that are not showing up in NI MAX.

http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/72FAD7156202DDF9862568900048F006?OpenDocument

I would encourage going through all the troubleshooting steps in the document linked above.

Hopefully this helps to connect your instrument!

Cheers,

Hannah

Hi Farzad_Sh,

I would recommend referring to the manual for your device:

http://assets.tequipment.net/assets/1/26/Documents/Hioki/3157.3157-01e_08.pdf

Page 2:

(8) Interface By using the optional 9593-02 RS-232C and 9518-02 GP-IB INTERFACE boards, the user can perform automatic testing and save the test results by means of a PC. Test results can be printed on the optional 9442 PRINTER. Connecting with the optional 3155 LEAK CURRENT HiTESTER enables testing and the test results can be saved and printed together with the 3155 leakage current test results.

RS-232C or GP-IB (May not be used in combination)

It looks like all your NI products are functioning correctly, and many times 3rd party devices won't show up in NI MAX. Have you been able to communicate with your device through NI VISA?

Farzad_Sh,

The best way to test the cable would be to try another cable to the same type that you know to work. Are you receiving any errors when trying to communicate with the device through NI VISA?

Best,

Hannah
