Windows XP Resetting on Shutdown with PCI-GPIB

After installing the NI PCI-GPIB card in a Windows XP Professional system, the computer no longer shuts down when I go to Start->Shut Down -> Shut Down and press OK. Instead it resets. Has anyone found a cause/resolution/woraround for this?

Hi tbihn,

This is the first time I've heard of this happening. Check your BIOS setting on your PC to see if it is set to wake on PCI activity. This is the only way I can see the PCI-GPIB affecting the power-on state of the PC. Try removing the card again to verify that it is this device.

Good luck,

Cause Found:

PCI-GPIB card (made in Hungary) was bad. Replacing the card resolved this issue and another seemingly unrelated issue where I installed NI-DAQ 7.4 and could not log onto Windows. Windows was giving a message that it could not validate my product registration then "logging off" and hanging.

tbihn,

Can you post the serial number or RMA number for that card to the forum? I'd like to track it and see this problem if you're going to send it here to Austin.

Thanks,
Scott B.
