Will the driver for the HP8594E support the HP8594A with the GPIB option?

Will the driver that controls the HP8591E,93E,94E,95E, and 96E via the GPIB bus also work with the HP8594A with the GPIB option? And are there any functions that are limited using a 8594A?

Hey Maslak,

Looking on Agilent's website you can see that the HP8594E was the replacement for the HP8594A. However, the user manual and information for the HP8594A is no longer available, because it is no longer supported by HP/Agilent.

If you can find the user manual for the 8594A then you can compare its functions to the 8594E. I would assume they would be very similar and it is very possible that the HP8594E driver will work. However, we do not have any documentation that says which functions won't work.

Hi Maslak,

The driver most probably will not work out-of-the-box. You should first try to disable the ID Query in the Initialize function. You can then try to use other functions.

If you have a programmer's manual for your instrument, it will be easy for you to find out what commands should be replaced in the existing driver to get it to work with your model.
