Using NI USB-GPIB to control Zeiss C90 CMM controller

Solved!
Go to solution

I have a Zeiss CMM running PCDMIS 32bit on Windows XP with PCI to GPIB (488.2 2.7.3)

If the controller is 8bit but works with my 32bit system already, can I export the VISA config file, change to a Windows 7 64bit computer with a USB to GPIB, and import that file back into a newer the 488.2 driver?  (will the bit change or a newer version of 488.2 be a problem?)

Hi Ryan,

As long as you save that export config file you should be able to load it into MAX of the second computer.  I can't find any documentation that says that there will be any problems with the bit change.  If you're really worried about it though, give it a try without getting rid of your original computer.

It seems that you already know how to transfer the settings over, but here is a KB on how to do that http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/BF528312C9A5423A862565BC00731EC0.
